United Kingdom. A First War Military Medal, Un-Named United Republic of Private Astley embarked BrisbaneGeorge V, Type I in Field Marshall's uniform. In silver, un named, measuring 36. 5 mm in diameter, pitted, bruised, edge nicks, original ribbon with pinback, fair. Footnote: The Military Medal was instituted on March 25, 1916 and was discontinued in 1993, when all ranks became eligible for the Military Cross. It was awarded to other ranks of the Army and Royal Air Force for acts of bravery in the field, the recipients to use the post nominal letters
