The protective edge of the helmet in magnetic steel. It is stamped with the manufacturer's mark D A likely denoting James Dixon & Sons Ltd of Sheffield as the manufacturer and Edgar Allen & Co Ltd of Sheffield as the supplier to the army, with batch number 121, therefore dating this helmet to 1915 16, Inside, there is a leather framed cradle
